Reporting intern and tester of dangerous magnets . Researched stories, answered queries, and wrote scathing emails in rhyme.

ABCNews.com Medical Unit 6.2007-12.2007

Wrote stories — first as an intern and then as a freelance Associate Producer — on topics ranging from celebrity illnesses to gene therapy for Parkinson’s disease. Helped ABC launch a series of deep-content health websites.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology 9.2006-6.2007

Studied science of all kinds, from the speech of tone-shifting transsexuals to collagen models and mathematical modellers. Wrote about physics and Facebook — and made an award-winning short film about robots and the uncanny valley. Earned a master’s degree in science writing.

United States Peace Corps 4.2004-6.2006

Taught English language, literature, baseball and rap lyrics to Bulgarian secondary students in the former tech-town of Pravets. Learned much about Bulgarian language and animal-chasing: mostly horses, sheep and goats. Participated in grant-writing projects to enhance the local environment, promote arts, and improve healthy living.

Princeton University 9.1999-5.2003

Dug into modern human origins in Bordeaux. Studied anthropology, politics, and the click language Xhosa at the University of Cape Town. Relished all things nestled in connections of humans and their environment. Wrote a thesis on equus-based cave art in the Franco-Cantabrian region. Graduated summa cum laude in Anthropology, nabbed a minor in Environmental Studies.
